Grading The Drafts Success

NFL Draft 2024: Instant Grades for All 32 Picks

Grading the Draft's Success

The 2024 NFL Draft has come and gone, leaving behind a flurry of trades and a new crop of potential stars. While it's too early to say for sure which teams have drafted the best players, we can provide some initial quick-snap grades for each team.

Tier 1: Elite Picks

Philadelphia Eagles (A+): The Eagles made a record-breaking six trades during the draft, acquiring star wide receiver DeVonta Smith and quarterback Anthony Richardson. They also added some much-needed defensive help with edge rusher Nolan Smith.

Kansas City Chiefs (A): The Chiefs traded up to select the top-ranked edge rusher in the draft, Peter Skoronoski. They also added two potential Pro Bowl players in wide receiver Adam Randall and cornerback Keenan Wallace.

Tier 2: Solid Picks

Baltimore Ravens (B+): The Ravens addressed their biggest need by selecting quarterback C.J. Stroud with the first overall pick. They also added some depth to their defense and offensive line.

Jacksonville Jaguars (B): The Jaguars had a solid draft overall, selecting potential stars in wide receiver Josh Downs and safety Jordan Battle. They also added some much-needed help along the offensive and defensive lines.

Tier 3: Average Picks

New York Giants (C+): The Giants made some surprising picks in the first round, selecting cornerback Devon Witherspoon and edge rusher Adetomiwa Adebawore. While they have potential, it's unclear if they filled their biggest needs.

Las Vegas Raiders (C): The Raiders made a bold move by trading up to select quarterback Derek Carr. However, they also traded away a lot of draft capital, which could hurt them in the long run.

Tier 4: Disappointing Picks

Pittsburgh Steelers (D): The Steelers made a head-scratching pick in the first round, selecting center Blake Freeland. They also passed on several potential star players who were available at their pick.

Houston Texans (D-): The Texans had a disastrous draft, selecting players who were not considered to be first-round talents. They also failed to address their biggest needs.
